Theory of Change A Framework for New Organizational Structure

After several years of rapid growth, leaders of this cutting-edge conservation group decided to replace their traditional org structure with one featuring semi-autonomous, cross-functional teams to work on specific initiatives. While developing a new org chart, staff leaders were also engaged in theory of change planning to clarify the Trust’s intended social impact and key audiences. The Trust’s TOC became the organizing principle for the new, more efficient management structure which allows the teams to plan and execute their work based on clear, sequential target outcomes. It is also informing their communications by answering key stakeholder questions about the Trust’s vision and the strategies they employ to reach it.
