- Program Development/Strategic Program Planning: Eleanor A. Smith & Associates has helped a wide range of organizations design new programming and enhance existing programs. Program directors have praised Eleanor’s skill at helping them convey their intentions in language clear to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Benchmarking Coaching and Evaluation Design: We have led groups through a user-friendly process that facilitates a closer alignment of program and mission. By focusing on a core question: "What does success look like?", groups have been able to define their goals, outcomes and evaluation strategies and develop appropriate benchmarking methods.
- Training: Eleanor’s expertise in facilitating strategic planning and evaluation design led to a half-day workshop on appropriate measurable outcomes. Launched in 2007, "What Does Success Look Like?" was presented at the Foundation Center in San Francisco (May 2007) and at the Center for Community Benefit Organizations in Oakland (September 2007). - Fundraising/Grant Writing: Eleanor A. Smith & Associates has assisted nonprofits of all sizes to raise over $25M in grants and gifts from individuals, foundation, corporations, and government funders. Clients have landed unprecedented grants from large national and statewide foundations.

- Grantmaking: As Program Consultant to the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation for five years, Eleanor designed grantmaking initiatives and recommended $15M in grants to Bay Area community development, workforce development, and social services agencies.
