Since 1997, Eleanor A. Smith & Associates has provided strategic consulting services to foundations, government and nonprofit organizations. We work in healthcare, education, human services, the arts, environment, advocacy, leadership development and other areas. To increase social impact, all of our services foster a closer alignment between mission and program. Services include:
  • Theory of Change & Logic Modeling: We help leaders clarify their vision for long-term social change and identify relevant outcomes and indicators to measure progress along the way. See Resources page for a downloadable article on the benefits of these tools.

  • Evaluation: Eleanor A. Smith & Associates designs and implements practical methods of assessing program outcomes to inform planning and make the case for support.

  • Strategic Planning: We design and facilitate custom planning processes to meet your goals and fit within available resources. Principal Eleanor Smith has been praised for productively shrinking planning time and leading groups to their own conclusions--leaving no fingerprints.

  • Community Needs Assessment: Using tailored, cost-effective methods, we help organizations collect and analyze data from target users of new or enhanced programs/services. Research can document needs, answer feasibility and inform program development.

  • Program Design & Planning: Eleanor A. Smith & Associates assists groups to conceptualize and design new or enhanced programs. Nonprofit leaders praise Eleanor's skill at helping them convey intentions in language resonant to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Meeting & Retreat Facilitation: Employing a range of facilitation methods, we lead groups in participatory planning and consensus decisionmaking, including Board-Staff retreats, interagency convenings and Town Hall meetings.
